First climb this year for me. We started with a 5.7. I felt I was doing better than when I first started last year. However, I am still very careful. I’m not doing any moves that are not 100% safe to make without falling. My boyfriend is telling me that I’m not trying enough.

However, I was happy with my achievement. I didn’t go all the way up, as I was mentally exhausted by the 2 trials already. I pushed twice my comfort level limit and I was happy enough. Later I tried a 5.8 which brought me to the middle of the height. I got to a place where I had to use the crack and I’m not yet comfortable to jack my fist in. And I’m afraid that if I start a move there is no turning back but falling.

Not sure exactly how to overcome this fear of falling and trust the rope. I don’t right now. One might say well, you trust it when you are lowered down. Well for some reason I feel that the lowering part is more controlled move, rather than falling on it.

I think gym will help to get into shape. But unfortunately there isn’t any opened.

On the other hand, my boyfriend totally rocked those climbs. He set up the anchors and rappelled down three times.
